Katie Hoff won the women’s 200 Breast final in 2:32.76. Ashley Wanland took second in 2:34.86 with Jessica Ward snagged 3rd place in 2:36.73.

Peter Vanderkaay claimed his first win of the meet in the men’s 100 Free in 51.23. Ohio State product Joe Doyle took second with his 52.01 performance. With a simultaneous touch of 52.452, 3rd place went to both Chris DeJong and Bennett Clark.
Northwestern’s Andrea Hupman took the women’s 100 Free title in 56.94. She was followed by Club Wolverine’s Allison Schmitt (57.70) and Emily Wong (57.77). Megan Romano placed 2nd in the ‘C’ final with a time of 58.79.
Chris DeJong made a successful comeback to competition by winning his signature event, the 200 Back, in 2:01.86 Keith Beavers made it to the wall second in 2:03.33. Matt Patton scored 3rd place with a time of 2:07.69.
Katie Hoff took the women’s 200 Back title in 2:13.37. World Champs member Elizabeth Beisel claimed runner-up honors in 2:14.27. Katie’s NBAC teammate Felicia Lee was 3rd in 2:16.28. Megan Romano won the ‘C’ final with a time of 2:21.58.
Erik Vendt stayed ahead of the field on his way to victory in the men’s 1500 Free, touching in 15:31. Michael Phelps (15:34.18) out touched Robert Margalis (15:34.63) for second place.
Kaitlin Sandeno touched 3rd in her 200 Fly heat, posting a time of 2:15.66, and advancing to the ‘A’ final tomorrow morning as the 3rd overall seed. World Championships silver medalist Kim Vandenberg was the top qualifier in 2:13.08, followed closely by Jemma Lowe’s 2:13.40 effort.
Davis Tarwater competed in the men’s event and touched first in his heat (2:04.65) to earn the 2nd ‘A’ final seed behind North Baltimore’s Dan Madwed (2:04.65). Matt Patton notched the 3rd fastest qualifying time of the session, touching in 2:06.22.
Erik Vendt clocked a 2:27.14 in the final heat of the men’s 200 breast prelims to finish 3rd. He will race in the ‘B’ final tomorrow, as the 3rd seed. Athens Bulldogs swimmer Neil Versfeld bested the rest of the field en route to the evening’s top time of 2:17.93. Rob Holderness (2:24.16) scored the second seed for finals, ahead of Florida’s Clark Burckle (2:24.56).
Michael Phelps did not swim the event.
