Australia’s Eamon Sullivan defended his 2006 title in the men’s 50 Free with a time of 22.30. World Championship gold medalist Ben Wildman-Tobriner touched second in 22.35. Snagging the last spot on the podium was Canadian Brent Hayden with a time of 22.73. Matt Grevers swam in the ‘B’ final and finished 23.50 to take that final’s top spot.

Shiho Sakai of Japan made it to the wall first in the women’s 100 Back finalin 1:01.81; just .06 ahead of the runner-up Emily Seebohm of Australia (1:01.87). Megan nay, also representing Australia, took third in 1:02.18. World Championship team members Mary Descenza (1:02.73) and Elizabeth Beisel (1:04.59) finished 5th and 8th respectively.

Michael Phelps picked up his second victory of the day, tying Aaron Peirsol’s 2004 meet record with a 1:56.95 swim. Longhorn swimmers put in a 2-3 finish as David Cromwell (2:01.08) and Nick Thoman (2:01.88) closed out the podium. Competing in the ‘B’ final, Erik Vendt finished 7th (16t overall) with a 2:07.55 swim.

Kelly Stubbins from Australia just out-touched Allison Schmitt of Club Wolverine to take the women’s 200 Free title in 2:00.33. Schmitt touched just .03 later, in 2:00.36. Shayne Reese, also of Australia, made the podium with a 2:01.14 swim. Kaitlin Sandeno just missed the top 3, turning in a2:01.22 performance.

Michael Phelps erased Klete Keller’s meet record from 2006 with his win in the men’s 400 Free. He made it to the wall in 3:47.34, ahead of Michael Klueh of Longhorn Aquatics’ 3:50.83 effort. Ryan Cochrane of Island Swimming finished third in 3:50.89. Elsewhere in the championship final, Erik Vendt placed 5th (3:52.53) and Chris DeJong 7th (3:57.21).

Leisel Jones added another first place finish to her tally at the International meet with a win in the women’s 100 Breast (1:07.09). Tara Kirk was the second place finisher after her 1:07.35 swim. Closing out the top 3 was another Aussie, Sarah Katsoulis (1:09.70).

South African Lyndon Ferns bested the field in the men’s 100 fly final with a time of 53.71. Swim Star Matt Grevers touched in 54.01 to take second. Jason Dunford of Stanford and Kenya took third in 54.05.

Julia Smit of Stanford Aquatics took first in the women’s 400 IM with a time of 4:40.33. Touching in second was El Dorado Aquatics’ Caitlin Leverenz in 4:43.06. Jessica Rodriguez of Longhorn Aquatics rounded out the podium in 4:44.58.

Australian Eamon Sullivan clocked a time of 22.71 for the top seed. Scoot Goodrich of Arizona Swimming hit the wall next in 22.99. Stanford’s Ben Wildman-Tobriner followed in 23.00 for 3rd. Matt Grevers took 10th in 23.42.
