Olympic Trials – Women’s 800 Free Prelims
The women’s 800 Free prelims created a situation where swimmers needed to post a top 8 time in order to advance to the timed final tomorrow night.
Leading the way was Kate Ziegler, who swam in the final heat and finished in 8:29.39. Katie Hoff had a dominating swim as well, in the preceding heat, where she jumped out to an early lead. Her final time was 8:29.91.
The 3rd qualifier for finals was Kesley Ditto after her 8:34.14 race in the 5th heat. Open Water Olympian Chloe Sutton (8:35.58) advances as does Caroline Burckle and Leah Gingrich, who both posted 8:35.86 efforts.
Laurabeth Guenthner (8:36.79) and Katie Carroll (8:37.65) are the 7th and 8th qualifiers, respectively.
