This is a special supplement to SwimStars.org. We log quite a few miles via car and plane travelling to swim meets. So, we thought a separate website dedicated just to our trips and swim meet coverage would be a neat addition to SwimStars.org.

On “Swim Stars Live” you’ll be able to read our own special write-ups from the deck as well as see exclusive pictures, audio, and video. We thought we could add a little bit more to our coverage and help bridge the gap between the swimmers competing and their fans, who are unable to attend all the meets we do.

The “live” posts that appear here were originally posted via our Sidekick phones. We set up “Swim Stars Live” to accept emails containing news and photos from our Sidekicks, which post immediately on the site. That would be the reason for typos So that is how we were able to break news and share pictures so quickly!

At recent meets, we have also started lugging our laptops to the pool and setting up camp in the press box. So we could update either by notebook or sidekick. You’ll see more “deck candids” being posted from the Sidekicks, though. We got away from those in Ann Arbor and Santa Clara, but we definitely want to bring those back in the future.

As technology continues to evolve, we’ve outgrown our Sidekicks. We now own iPhones and BlackBerry phones. We will continue to post live updates using these smartphones, so nothing will change here on Swim Stars Live.

As is the case with any project we participate in, we look to improve with each competition. We welcome your participation and feedback.

We hope to attend and fully cover our first meet of the new quadrennium in early 2009!
