2010 Columbus Grand Prix – Men’s 400 Free Final

Swimming out of lane 3, Peter Vanderkaay beat the field to the wall in 3:53.46 to win the men’s 400 Free. George Markovic was a close second, hitting the wall in 3:54.18, just ahead of Charlie Houchin (3:54.50).

2010 Columbus Grand Prix – Women’s 400 Free Final

Chloe Sutton continues to impress, adding another 1st place finish to her tally, with a 4:08.53 finish in the women’s 400 Free. Olympian Kate Ziegler (4:12.56) and Dagny Knutson (4:17.42) finished second and third, respectively.

2010 Columbus Grand Prix – Men’s 100 Back Final

Nick Thoman took 1st in the men’s 100 Back final; clocking in with a new pool record-setting 53.95. Mathias Gydesen grabbed second after a 54.66 effort, while Guy Barnea posted a 55.16 to take 3rd.

2010 Columbus Grand Prix – Women’s 100 Back Final

Top seed Liz Pelton, of NBAC, made it to the wall first in the women’s 100 Back final. Caroline Rodriguez challenged down the stretch, but settled for 2nd in 1:02.69. Therese Svendsen rounded out the Top 3 with a 1:03.09 performance.

2010 Columbus Grand Prix – Men’s 200 Breast Final

Eric Shanteau increased his lead in the men’s 200 Breast final with each turn, leading to a 2:10.84 finish and a new pool record for the McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion. Top seed Elliott Keefer touched second in 2:13.90, with Henrique Barbosa claimed 3rd in 2:16.92.

The bonus for this final is that at least there wasn’t a shaky start leading the swimmers to question whether or not a false start had been issued.

2010 Columbus Grand Prix – Women’s 200 Breast Final

Corrie Clark swept the breaststroke events, setting a new pool record with her 2:31.52 swim in the 200 Breast final. Adriana Marmolejo took second in 2:35.34, just ahead of Lysistrati Halkides’ 2:35.86.

2010 Columbus Grand Prix – 50 Free Finals

Puerto Rican Olympian Vanessa Garcia made it to the wall first in the women’s 50 Free spring, stopping the clock in 25.64. Erika Erndl (26.00) grabbed second and Madeline Schaefer (26.06) 3rd.

Peter Vanderkaay won the ‘C’ final with a time of 23.94.

The Championship final pitted Cullen Jones against George Bovell and Cesar Cielo, with the sprint title going to Cesar in 22.14. Cullen followed with a second place finishing 22.50, just ahed of George’s 22.55.

2010 Columbus Grand Prix – Men’s 400 IM Final

Much like the women’s final, Tyler Clary jumped out to an early lead in the men’s 400 IM final. Todd Patrick mounted a late charge, but it wasn’t enough to overtake Tyler, who hit the wall in 4:21.72. Todd finished second in 4:22.27, and NBAC’s Brennan Morris took 3rd in 4:28.28.

2010 Columbus Grand Prix – Women’s 400 IM Final

Dagny Knutson took control of the women’s 400 IM for the first 2 strokes, and increased her lead until the breaststroke leg, where Justine Mueller used a strong stroke to pull ahead going into the freestyle. From there it was a race to the finish as Dagny tried to reclaim the lead and Jasmine Tosky also in the mix. Justine held off Dagny (4:44.90) to win in 4:43.67, while Jasmine took 3rd in 4:46.96. Felicia Lee finished 4th in 4:57.33.
