Club Wolverine’s Allison Schmitt was the top finisher in the womens 200 Free final with a 1:59.37. Germantown’s Katie Riefenstahl took runner-up honors in 2:00.65. The Fish’s Kate Ziegler finished 3rd in 2:00.70. Club Wolverine’s Kaitlin Sandeno made it to the wall in 2:01.57, while Megan Romano clocked a 2:03.36 for 7th place.

The Longhorn Aquatics duo of Brendan Hansen and Eric Shanteau went 1-2 in the men’s 100 Breast final. The world record-holder touched in 1:01.10, followed by his teammate’s 1:02.46. Mexico’s Alejandro Jacobo Rodriguez rounded out the top 3 with a 1:02.72 swim. Finishing just off the podium, in 4th, was Club Wolverine’s Michael Phelps (1:02.80).

After claiming the top seed, Katie Hoff opted not to swim the 100 Breast finals because it was immediately after her 800 Free final. Lindsay Rogers of Southeastern Swim Club captured the win in 1:10.23. Germantown’s Alicia Aemisegger was second with a 1:11.04 swim, followed by Dallas Mustang Spindrift Beck (1:11.84). Meanwhile, Felicia Lee won the ‘C’ final in 1:14.67.

Katie Hoff won the women’s 800 Free impressively with a 8:19.70. Kate Ziegler tooks second in 8:31.34. Alicia Mathieu from the SoNoCo Swim Club placed 3rd with a 8:50.22 effort.

Club Wolverine’s Erik Vendt posted the fastest 200 IM, finishing in 2:04.30. Ohio State’s Niksa Roki hit second in 2:04.58 with Longhorn’s Aaron Peirsol advancing 3rd in 2:04.70. Brendan Hansen secured the last spot in the ‘A’ final with his 2:06.80 swim.

Germantown’s Alicia Aemisegger made it to the wall 1st, in the morning heats of the women’s 200 IM, with a 2:15.75 swim. Club Wolverine’s Kaitlin Sandeno grabbed lane 5 for the finals with her 2:16.81. The Dallas Mustang’s Spindrift Beck qualified 3rd in 2:17.57.

Auburn’s Fred Bousquet’s 52.72 earned him the right to swim from lane 4 in the timed finals of the 100 Fly. His teammate Alexei Puninski touched with the next qaulifying time (52.99). Michael Phelps also qualified for the ‘A’ final, after his 54.12 swim.

The 100 Fly was Katie Hoff’s second event during day 1 of the Ohio State Grand Prix, and she claimed another #1 seed, touching in 59.45. Jacqueline Fessel (1:00.31) was the next qualifier, followed by local swimmer Darcy Fishback’s 1:00.83. Felicia Lee grabbed the 4th finals seed in 1:01.13.

Michael Phelps, the 200 Freestyle world record-holder, earned the top seed for tonight’s final with a 1:50.50 effort. North Baltimore’s Dan Madwed posted the next swiftest time, hitting in 1:50.84. CW teammates Peter Vanderkaay (1:51.13) and Davis Tarwater (1:51.20) qualified 3rd and 4th, respectively.

Mexico’s Alejandro Jacobo Rodriguez posted the morning’s top time of 1:03.20 in the men’s 100 Breaststroke. World Record-holder Brendan Hansen qualified second with a 1:03.73, just ahead of his teammate Eric Shanteau’s 1:03.75. Michael Phelps earned the 5th seed with a 1:04.01 swim. Erik Vendt swam a 1:08.36 race, but was DQed.
